The Indian Ladies Association (ILA) yesterday announced the launch of an exciting new youth empowerment program called ‘aaGaz’ (Urdu for New Beginnings).

The program aims at offering members and non-members children, aged 13 to 17 years old, an opportunity to learn how to serve the community, care for the environment, design and implement charity and social work modules, and fund-raise and action them.

“Our youth are the keepers of the future,” said ILA Hon. President Kiran Mangle, “In this age of social media and the Internet, they are very well informed and want to serve society.

We believe that ‘aaGaz’ will be a platform for them to hone their skills and also be a sort of social entrepreneurship sandbox where they can experiment with ideas to serve the community, learn vital skills like fundraising, teamwork and responsibility to society.”

The module will be run by three experienced ILA Members, Dr. Hemlata Singh, Ms. Swati Sanap and Ms. Priyanka Jassal.

Environmental awareness

The inaugural gathering is scheduled for June 5, focusing on environmental awareness.

Former presidents of the association will plant a tree at the ILA premises. Led by Mr. Kai Miethig, a distinguished environmentalist, the children will address environmental concerns and discuss the advocacy and implementation of our message.

There will be leadership training modules and even a Mr. & Ms. Teen Bahrain event in the future.

Excited

“We are excited with the potential of ‘aaGaz’ and welcome youth members, boys and girls to become a part of this movement,” said coordinator Dr. Hemlata Singh, “Enrollment in the year-round program is open to the children of all nationalities.

Ladies can become ILA members by contacting our Hon.Membership Secretary, Hilda Lobo on +973 36990111”.
