The Directorate of Policies and Curricular Development, in collaboration with the Regional English Language Officer (RELO) of the U.S. Embassy in Bahrain, has launched a three-week training programme to improve English language teaching skills and prepare 150 secondary school teachers and their students for the TOEFL and IELTS international tests. The programme will be held at the Isa Cultural Centre (ICC), with one week of training dedicated to each academic level from 1st to 3rd secondary.

Sahar Abdulmoneim Al Majthoub, Director of Curriculum Development and Policies Directorate at the Ministry of Education, explained that this programme is part of the Ministry's efforts to enhance teacher competence and provide specialised training for secondary students to perform well on the TOEFL and IELTS exams, as passing these international tests is a requirement for admission to many higher education institutions.

The programme will cover several topics, including introducing the structure and question types of the international tests, techniques for effectively preparing students, methods of evaluation and scoring, and how to integrate test preparation into lesson planning. Additionally, the programme will organise workshops and practical sessions to improve teachers' skills in designing and implementing effective educational activities to help students improve their English language abilities.
