The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has announced a 50% reduction in issuance and renewal fees for domestic workers employed by Bahraini nationals aged 60 and above. The decision aims to support the elderly and reduce the financial burden associated with hiring household help.

According to sources, the LMRA has communicated the fee reduction to licensed employment agencies.

This reduction applies to all issuance and renewal fees for a single domestic worker and is exclusive to Bahrainis over 60 years old.

With this reduction, the fee for a new one-year work permit is now BD75.5, while a two-year permit costs BD103.

Renewal fees have also been reduced, with the six-month and one-year options now priced at BD8.5 and BD32, respectively.

Additionally, a twoyear renewal is available for BD59.

The initiative is expected to benefit a significant number of senior citizens in Bahrain, reducing the financial burden associated with hiring caregivers.

The LMRA’s decision aligns with the government’s commitment to supporting the well-being of senior citizens and ensuring they receive proper care and support.

By reducing the cost of hiring caregivers, the government aims to make senior citizen care more accessible and affordable for families.
