Saudi authorities reportedly deported approximately 200 Bahraini nationals who attempted to enter Mecca for the Hajj pilgrimage without proper permits.
A viral video circulating online depicts Bahrainis being escorted out of the holy land and transported to Jeddah, although sources indicate the footage is over two days old.
The operation involved raids on hotels and intercepting individuals trying to sneak in via buses and trains.
Among those apprehended were individuals associated with ten licenced Hajj travel groups, while others attempted to circumvent permit regulations independently.
The Ministry of Justice has issued a stern warning against participating in unauthorised Hajj campaigns or attempting the pilgrimage independently without necessary documentation, emphasising severe consequences for non-compliance.
