The government has made a bold announcement, reaffirming its efforts to reward the hardworking employees of customs, passports and other departments within the Ministry of Interior.
Recognising their crucial role in securing the Kingdom's customs outlets and controlling prohibitions and violations, the government is providing a nature of work allowance to compensate for the significant risks, extra efforts, and psychological pressures these employees face.
The government clarified that the Ministry of Interior regularly reviews the allowance system, taking into account the working conditions of its employees as they fulfil their duties.
In a memorandum to the Council of Representatives, the government noted that civil service policies and regulations aim to achieve job satisfaction and motivate employees through salaries, allowances, and job benefits.
Environments fraught
This is particularly important in work environments fraught with risks and unusual conditions that may impact employees' physical and mental health.
Civil service jobs are evaluated and classified, with grades and wages determined based on duties, responsibilities, required academic qualifications, years of experience, supervision level, working conditions, and associated risks.
The government further explained that when unusual working conditions cannot be fully addressed through the job classification system, the nature of work allowance serves as an alternative form of
compensation.
This allowance helps to mitigate the impact of work environment conditions and risks that cannot be managed through safety measures, ensuring employees have a suitable and healthy work environment.
