A mother and son have been ordered to pay BD12,000 in unpaid rent after they failed to make payments for over a year on a villa they rented. The case was brought before the court by the villa’s owner, who claimed that the tenants had not paid rent since September 2022.
The total amount of unpaid rent was BD12,000.
The court heard evidence from the landlord’s lawyer, who presented a signed document in which the mother acknowledged her responsibility for paying the outstanding rent for 14 months, totaling BD11,200.
Based on the evidence presented, the court ruled in favour of the landlord and ordered the mother and son to pay the outstanding rent of 11,200 dinars, as well as legal fees.
The landlord appealed the court’s decision, arguing that the tenants should be required to pay the full amount of unpaid rent, which was BD12,000.
The Appeals Court agreed with the landlord and ordered the tenants to pay the additional 800 dinars, as well as legal fees.
