Bahrain Polytechnic To Host: 'Learning for All: AI for Student Success' Symposium

In preparation for the upcoming academic year 2024-2025, Bahrain Polytechnic is organizing a symposium titled 'Learning for All: AI for Student Success. The symposium will bring local and international educators, industry leaders, and experts to discuss innovative strategies and best practices for creating a comprehensive, engaging, and future-ready learning environment. The symposium aims to inspire and empower academics to embrace diversity, implement effective industrial projects, and utilize technology to enhance student learning and assessment.

The symposium will take place on the 28th and 29th of August 2024 in a hybrid format, with sessions held both virtually and in person at the Bahrain Hall (Building 12) at the Polytechnic’s campus in Isa Town. Those interested in attending the symposium, whether in person or virtually, can register through Bahrain Polytechnic's website or social media channels.

On this occasion, the CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, stated: “Our annual symposium, titled 'Learning for All: AI for Student Success' builds upon the success of last year's symposium, being 'Towards a Flexible Institution', which celebrated our institution's achievements in responding to the dynamic labor market demands. Last year, we took significant steps in transforming the Polytechnic into a flexible and responsive institution. We introduced a range of new initiatives, including Top-Up programs, master's degrees, part-time study, and conversion programs, all aimed at enhancing the concept of 'A Polytechnic for All', with these efforts proving impactful in opening opportunities for our students within the diverse workforce.'

He added: “This year's symposium will continue our journey towards truly becoming a comprehensive and forward-looking institution, featuring a diverse group of keynote speakers, panel discussions, and interactive workshops covering topics such as embracing diversity in classrooms, implementing effective industrial projects, leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance student learning and assessment, and applying the institution's philosophy in master's degree programs.” He emphasized that this symposium serves as a valuable and inspiring experience as we continue our mission to transform our institution into 'A Polytechnic for All'.

On its first day, the symposium will discuss several topics centered around: Steadying the ship in unchartered waters, best practices for implementing industry projects across schools, International Dynamics and Their Influence on Reputation in Global Rankings, applying institutional philosophy in master’s degree programs, Hands-on problem-based learning for effective assessments and crafting impactful peer feedback in education. On the second day, the symposium will delve into various topics such as: "Fireside Talk, AI Doesn't Want Your Job, Ethical Considerations in AI-powered Assessment, Conversational AI Tutors, AI-Empowered Session Toolkit and Adaptive Learning Platform, Enhancing Classroom Engagement with AI, and Empowering Tutors with AI-Driven Assessment Tools.
