NMS Achieves Global Glory: 53 Medals Won at Bangkok World Scholar’s Cup,2024

New Millennium School Students exhibited stellar performance at the Bangkok Global Round of the World Scholar’s Cup 2024, held from 28th August to 5th September. 2024. This prestigious event saw over 4,000 scholars from 35 countries competing in a series of intellectually stimulating challenges, including Subject Challenge, Collaborative Writing, Debate, and Scholar’s Bowl.

The participation of twelve distinguished student scholars from New Millennium School, comprising the Junior and Senior teams demonstrated remarkable prowess and unwavering dedication throughout the event and brought home 32 Gold Medals and 21 Silver Medals. The outstanding performance and jubilant victory of NMS student scholars showcased not only their exceptional academic abilities but also their capabilities to collaborate, innovate and express their ideas eloquently, thus adding to the School’s legacy of Academic Excellence on the Global stage. All four teams have successfully qualified for the Tournament of Champions at Yale University, USA, scheduled for November 2024.

Highlights of Achievements:

Junior division

1.Samiksha Raghuram: Achieved gold medals in all categories, including top performances in Debate (Top 2%), Writing (Top 3%), and Bowl (Top 5%) categories. Ranked among the Top 10% Debaters and Top 3% Writers.

2.Trishaa Jagasia: Secured a gold medal and was recognized as the Top Debater in the Junior Division, ranking within the Top 1%.

3.Sajani Mani Prabhu Kumar, Trishaa Jagasia, and Samiksha Raghuram: Collaboratively excelled as a team, winning gold in the Debate Team (Top 2%), Writing Team (Top 3%), and Bowl Team (Top 5%) categories.

4.Shawn Felix: Earned a gold medal and achieved top honours in the Science & Technology Challenge, ranking in the Top 1%.

5.Devansh Jana:  emerged triumphant to win a gold medal and was ranked in the Top 4 % Junior Writer.

6.Tarun Prabu Rajan, Devansh Jana, and Shawn Felix: Secured gold medals as a part of the Bowl Team, ranking in the Top 5%.

Senior Division

1.Kavin Krishnan emerged as a standout scholar, securing Gold Medals in all categories and earning the title of Champion Scholar among the top 2% globally. His exceptional skills were further recognized as he ranked in the top 2% in both the Debate Team and Individual Debater categories, and the top 4% in Writing. Additionally, Kavin excelled in the Challenge events, ranking in the top 2% in History and top 3% in Art & Music.

2.Paolo Thomas delivered a remarkable performance and was awarded a Gold Medal  He also excelled in the Science & Technology Challenge at the top 1%, Bowl Team in the top 2%, and was placed in the top 8% in the Debater category. 

3.The Senior Debate Team, consisting of Suvit Sarkar, Kavin Krishnan, and Atharv Swarnakar, showcased their eloquence and critical thinking skills, earning a Gold Medal and ranking in the top 2% globally.

4.The Senior Bowl Team, comprising Akanksha Nayak, Priyanshu Nayak, and Paolo Thomas, also achieved remarkable success with a Gold Medal and a top 2% ranking.

The Principal Mr. Arun Kuumar Sharma congratulated the student scholars and teacher mentors, Ms. Shabana Jamil, Ms. Manpreet Kaur and Ms. Beena Leo for their remarkable achievement and stated, “Our students’ success at the World Scholar’s Cup Global Round reflects their dedication to learning and leadership. We are incredibly proud of the accomplishments of our students embodying our values both in and out of the classroom.”

The Chairman Dr. Ravi Pillai and Managing Director Mrs. Geetha Pillai extended their heartfelt congratulations to the student scholars and their parents  and thanked the Principal and the staff for their efforts.
