Middle East Hospital celebrated the World Patient Safety Day on Tuesday. World Patient Safety Day is an opportunity to raise public awareness and foster collaboration between patients, health workers, policymakers and health care leaders to improve patient safety. This year’s theme focused on Improving Diagnosis for Patient Safety, using the slogan “Get it right, make it safe!”. The campaign was inaugurated by Najeeb Hamad Al Kawari, Member of Parliament, 6th Constituency, Southern Governate.
As a part of campaign, Poster Competition, On Spot Quiz Competition and a short skit was presented to present the effect of delay or missed diagnosis to patient safety.
The winners were awarded by the Chief Guest. During this event, critical importance of correct and timely diagnosis in ensuring patient safety and improving health outcomes was highlighted. Scientific Models was showcased in booths representing the pathways to reach a timely and accurate diagnosis for patient safety. It started by taking thorough patient history, physical examinations, assessment.
Followed by Diagnostic test like laboratory & radiology, next step is the communication between healthcare team and patient reviewing the diagnostic result. Lastly, health practitioner derived to proper and accurate diagnosis and prescribe proper treatment and management for patient safety and improve health outcome.
