American Mission Hospital marks World Patient Safety Day 2024 with a focus on diagnostic accuracy

Under the distinguished patronage of Lieutenant General Doctor Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, Bahrain celebrated World Patient Safety & Quality Day at the American Mission Hospital.

This year’s theme, “Improving Diagnosis for Patient Safety,” emphasized the critical role of accurate and timely diagnosis in enhancing patient safety, reflected in the slogan “Get it right, make it safe!”. The event commenced with opening remarks by Ms. Julia Tovey, followed by a keynote address by the Chief Guest. Dr. George Cheriyan and Dr. Jameela Al Salman, both highly respected healthcare leaders, delivered insightful presentations on the importance of diagnostic precision and shared their experiences in improving patient safety within healthcare systems.

Four Quality Improvement Projects were presented, each showcasing innovative strategies aimed at enhancing the safety and quality of care in AMH. These projects reflected the collaborative efforts and dedication of healthcare teams in reducing diagnostic errors and improving patient outcomes. The event also featured an award ceremony that recognized exceptional contributions to patient safety.

Award recipients were honored with cash prizes, acknowledging their exemplary efforts in advancing quality and safety initiatives within the healthcare sector. World Patient Safety Day, a global initiative led by the World Health Organization (WHO), aims to promote safer healthcare systems by raising awareness and advocating for solutions to prevent medical errors. American Mission Hospital Bahrain’s celebration of this day reaffirmed the country’s dedication to continually improving healthcare standards and prioritizing patient well-being.
