Bapco Energies launches first-ever strategic secondment programme in with TotalEnergies

In a significant step towards advancing Bahrain’s role in the global energy market, Bapco Energies, the integrated company leading the energy transition in the Kingdom of Bahrain, has announced the launch of its first-ever strategic secondment programme in collaboration with TotalEnergies.

This initiative, a first for Bahrain, will see a selected group of Bapco Energies employees embark on an intensive 12-month placement with Total Oil Trading S.A. (TOTSA) in Geneva, Switzerland, marking a new era of talent development and international collaboration in the Kingdom’s energy sector. This landmark programme is part of the strategic partnership agreement signed in June 2024 between Bapco Energies and TotalEnergies for the trading of petroleum products.

The programme aims to equip participants with advanced skills in petroleum product trading, including market analysis, risk management, and strategic decision-making, through hands-on experience and direct mentorship from industry leaders at TOTSA.

The inaugural batch of secondees, all Bapco Energies employees, was welcomed by Mr. Mark Thomas, Group Chief Executive Officer of Bapco Energies, and Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, Chief Executive Officer of Bapco Refining, alongside the company’s executive management team. Speaking at the event, Mark Thomas highlighted the program’s pivotal role in aligning with Bahrain’s national vision to foster a highly skilled workforce, as envisioned by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
