Al Baraka Group and its Subsidiaries Celebrate the Third Al Baraka Day

Al Baraka Group and its subsidiaries worldwide recently celebrated the Third annual Al Baraka Day, a day dedicated to employees to engage in activities focused on serving their local communities. This initiative aligns with the Group’s core values of socially responsible Islamic banking, which is based on sharing mutual benefits with partners in success.

The Group and its subsidiaries organized charitable activities within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: “Quality Education.”

In Bahrain, to celebrate the day, Al Baraka Group and Al Baraka Islamic Bank invited 40 orphans from two local charities to the Group’s headquarters, where they enjoyed a variety of fun activities, including a Science Entertainment show. Additionally, the Group established two dedicated libraries for children in two kindergartens.

On this occasion, Mr. Houssem Ben Haj Amor, Group CEO of Al Baraka Group, stated: “Al Baraka Group and its units are committed to a consistent and responsible approach to serving and developing the local communities where we operate. The annual Al Baraka Day initiative reflects this approach, as our employees engage in meaningful volunteer activities and events. This year, we chose to link these activities with SDG 4, Quality Education, as it is a noble goal that elevates future generations.”

It is worth noting that the charitable activities, which carried out by over 70 employees of the Group and its subsidiaries on Al Baraka Day, have positively impacted the lives of more than 4,500 students in the countries where the Group operates. These initiatives included providing educational facilities with essential tools to enhance learning environments, and developing technology-driven curricula in South Africa.

Establishing a library in a school in an area with few facilities, and providing computers with equipped audiobooks to encourage children to acquire new knowledge in a simpler way in Tunisia. Additionally, a fun festival was organized, and stationery kits were distributed to students in the earthquake-affected region of Hatay Province in Turkey.

In Pakistan, five students received scholarships for higher education and more than 100 students were given awareness lectures on sustainable development goals. In Jordan, school supplies and winter clothing were distributed in coordination with the Madrasati Initiative. In Egypt, support was provided to a community school by covering the full fees for one academic year for primary school students.
