Canadian Ambassador meets with Canadian Students at RCSI Medical University of Bahrain

Medical University of Bahrain had the honor of welcoming His Excellency Jean-Philippe Linteau, Ambassador of Canada to Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Oman. The ambassador was accompanied by Ms. Sonia Hukil, the Trade Commissioner responsible for the Education sector. The visit, led by Professor Sameer Otoom, President of RCSI, focused on strengthening ties between the university and Canada.
Discussions revolved around collaboration opportunities, particularly as RCSI Medical University of Bahrain continues to be a key institution for Canadian students in the region. With 127 alumni currently working or training in Canada, the university has fostered strong partnerships with Canadian educational institutions, demonstrating the significant role it plays in promoting international academic cooperation.
During the visit, the delegation engaged with Canadian students currently enrolled at RCSI, gaining insights into their experiences living and studying in Bahrain. The ambassador reaffirmed Canada's support for its nationals abroad, particularly through the Honorary Consulate of Canada in Bahrain.
Professor Sameer Otoom expressed his pride in having 151 Canadian nationals studying at RCSI this academic year and emphasized the importance of continuing to build on these relationships. Ambassador Linteau also conveyed his appreciation for the thriving Canadian student community at the university and expressed Canada's commitment to further developing these partnerships.
This visit underscores the ongoing collaboration between Canada and RCSI, reflecting the shared commitment to educational excellence and fostering global connections.
