Job opportunities for Bahrainis are set to expand after His Majesty King Hamad ratified changes to the Labour Fund Law, aimed at improving training and sharpening the skills of local workers, MP Dr Maryam Al Dhaen said.
Dr Al Dhaen described the amendment to Article (4) as a crucial step towards boosting employment for Bahrainis and increasing their ability to compete in both local and international markets. She explained that the updated law focuses on supporting and training Bahraini workers to enhance their productivity.
She added that the changes would open up more opportunities for citizens, in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and advancing sustainable development for the benefit of all sections of society. According to Dr Al Dhaen, these updates have been designed to meet the changing needs of the Bahraini labour market and will contribute to strengthening the economy.
‘These amendments are expected to create a more welcoming economic climate for Bahraini private enterprises by supporting homegrown projects,’ she said. ‘This will encourage economic activity and help generate stable, longterm jobs.’
Dr Al Dhaen pointed to the importance of developing Bahraini talent through advanced training and education programmes, alongside backing small and medium businesses involving Bahrainis. ‘These efforts will bring greater diversity to the economy and support lasting growth,’ she added.
She also emphasised the special focus on Bahraini women, noting that the amendments aim to empower women and increase their presence in both public and private workplaces. Dr Al Dhaen said this approach would promote fairness between men and women while enhancing the role of women in society.
The amendments, she explained, address the immediate challenges of today’s job market while building a foundation for sustained economic progress in the years to come.
