Bahrain Islamic Bank (BisB), the leading provider of innovative Islamic financial solutions for simplifying money matters in the Kingdom of Bahrain, has entered a strategic partnership with Conserving Bounties, a non-profit organisation dedicated to collecting surplus food and redistributing it to underserved families, expatriate workers, and individuals across Bahrain.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to strengthen national efforts to combat food poverty, reduce waste, and promote conscious production and consumption. By ensuring fair and responsible redistribution of surplus food to vulnerable communities, it contributes to the attainment of UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2: Zero Hunger. Both organisations will also work on raising public awareness about the importance of food preservation. BisB’s volunteer team ‘Jood’ will actively help Conserving Bounties by participating in food distribution and providing administrative and logistical assistance.
Ms. Fatema AlAlawi, Acting Chief Executive Officer of BisB, remarked, “Our partnership with Conserving Bounties embodies BisB’s steadfast commitment to addressing food insecurity across Bahrain. By supporting initiatives that preserve surplus resources and promote equitable distribution, we are reinforcing our dedication to the community and Bahrain’s national development goals. Through BisB’s volunteer team Jood, we aim to play our part in creating a culture of mindful consumption and usher in positive social impact.”
Shaikh Zeyad bin Faisal Al Khalifa, Deputy Chairman of Conserving Bounties, added, “This joint endeavour with BisB marks a pivotal step in our mission to alleviate hunger and reduce food waste, amplifying our ability to effectively serve vulnerable communities. Together, we are setting a strong example of how strong collaborations can drive meaningful progress toward a more sustainable future.”
