ASRY signs collaboration agreements with two Italian companies

The Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY) has announced signing of two new agreements with Italian companies during the official visit of the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to Bahrain.T he collaboration agreements were signed yesterday at ASRY’s headquarters in Hidd, with Italian Ambassador HE Andrea Catalano, senior executives, and representatives from the Economic Development Board (EDB) in attendance.

The first agreement, concluded with the defence and security specialist Leonardo, is centered on the development of naval repair and conversion projects, with the aim of attracting opportunities both regionally and globally.

The second agreement was signed with DE Wave, a company known for its expertise in cruise ship and yacht maintenance, repairs, and systems development. This partnership will see ASRY working to bring cruise ships to Bahrain for repairs and conversions while benefiting from DE Wave’s technical and project management expertise. The EDB lent its support to this collaboration.

ASRY CEO Dr Ahmed AlAbri said, ‘We’re proud to broaden our international partnerships, particularly with the friendly Republic of Italy. Our aim is to attract outside expertise, build new business connections, diversify our services, and stay up to date with the latest in maritime industry technologies and practices.’

Dr AlAbri also thanked the EDB for their ongoing support, which has been instrumental in connecting ASRY with global organizations.

Mubarak Al-Jowder, Head of Commercial Portfolio Development, added, ‘These agreements are a strategic step forward in enhancing international cooperation in cruise and naval ship sectors. They open avenues for new ideas and growth opportunities for ASRY and for Bahrain.
