Bapco Energies CEO Marks 24 Years of National Action Charter, Praises HM the King’s Vision

Mark Thomas, CEO of Bapco Energies — the integrated energy group leading the energy transition in the Kingdom of Bahrain — extended his heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the adoption of the National Action Charter.

Thomas reflected on the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, highlighting his wisdom and visionary approach in steering the nation’s development. He emphasized that the King’s foresight and commitment to progress have laid the foundation for Bahrain’s comprehensive renaissance, positioning the National Action Charter as a milestone that has significantly advanced democratic governance and the rule of law both regionally and internationally.

The CEO of Bapco Energies underscored that the adoption of the National Action Charter was instrumental in strengthening the pillars of modern democracy within a legal and institutional framework. This, he noted, has become one of Bahrain’s key democratic achievements, fostering a governance system rooted in integrity, transparency, and justice. He added that the Charter has played a crucial role in Bahrain’s sustainable development across various sectors, reshaping the country’s political and social landscape.

Thomas also praised the support and leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, who chaired the committee responsible for implementing the principles of the National Action Charter upon its inauguration in 2001. The committee was tasked with proposing policies and recommendations to realize the Charter’s objectives, including drafting new legislation and amending existing laws to align with its principles.

“The efforts of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister have been pivotal in driving political, economic, and social reforms,” Thomas said. “These reforms have enhanced state institutions and contributed to sustainable development through effective policies that diversified Bahrain’s economic resources. His vision has also strengthened the professional and financial services sectors and propelled the growth of the technology industry. Furthermore, Bahrain has established itself as a key player in the global energy sector by adopting innovative solutions to address climate challenges and environmental conservation, reinforcing its role as a true contributor to sustainable development at both regional and international levels.”

Thomas also commended the unwavering dedication of the national workforce, known as #TeamBahrain, which operates with a strong sense of unity, resilience, and determination. He emphasized that the principles of the National Action Charter continue to inspire efforts aimed at diversifying the economy and national income sources, ensuring financial and social sustainability, and enhancing the quality of life for Bahraini citizens in alignment with Bahrain’s Vision 2030.
