Metals power non-oil export surge in 2024 Bahrain’s non-oil exports hit BD 4.7 billion in 2024, rising 4% over the previous year — with base metals doing much of the heavy lifting. According to early government figures shared with Parliament, metals and metal products accounted for nearly 60% of non-oil exports. Mineral goods followed at 17%, while chemicals made up 6% of the total.

Exports of Bahraini origin contributed BD3.9 billion, while re-exports added another BD818.8 million — an 8.3% jump from 2023.

On the import side, the Kingdom brought in BD8.9 billion worth of goods, up slightly by 1.6%. Machinery and electrical equipment topped the list at 19%, followed by chemicals at 17% and mineral products at 14%.

The report credited government efforts to keep markets open and stable, noting a steady rise in foreign investment. By the end of 2023, Bahrain’s total stock of direct foreign investment stood at around USD 43 billion — a sign, officials say, of growing international confidence in the economy.
