Safa, a voluntary carbon offsetting platform that provides individuals and businesses with the tools to understand and manage their carbon footprint, and Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), the home of motorsport in the Middle East, have announced a new collaboration enabling ticketholders to proactively address climate concerns by offsetting the carbon emissions associated with their travel.

The collaboration brings together two portfolio companies of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat), the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in a venture that supports Bahrain’s efforts to reduce 30% of its carbon emissions by 2035 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2060. Through this initiative, Formula 1 guests will have the opportunity to offset their travel-related emissions at the point of sale when purchasing tickets for the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix later this year. This is particularly crucial, as travel usually constitutes the largest source of carbon emissions.

The announcement aligns with the Kingdom’s strategy to combat the impact of climate change.

Moreover, the collaboration underscores Safa’s mission to deliver sustainable solutions and BIC’s broader environmental efforts, which are reflected through its FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation, renewable energy initiatives, and the circuit’s long-standing sustainability program under the theme of “Racing Towards a Greener Future.”
