Finance Minister participates in Global Inclusive Growth Summit

Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Finance and National Economy, represented the Kingdom at the Global Inclusive Growth Summit (GIGS) 2025, hosted by Mastercard in Washington, D.C. During the summit, he emphasized Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to create a supportive investment environment that fosters the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and drives economic diversification.
Shaikh Salman highlighted the critical role of SMEs in national development, noting their contribution to achieving key economic goals. He also outlined Bahrain’s commitment to advancing its digital financial infrastructure, leveraging innovation-based technologies to improve financial services and support economic growth.
The minister further stressed the importance of investing in human capital, focusing on developing a generation of skilled professionals in finance and business. He acknowledged the vital role of the private sector in Bahrain's development and commended the Labour Fund “Tamkeen” for strengthening the private sector and enhancing the employability of Bahraini citizens.
Shaikh Salman also highlighted the partnership between Tamkeen and the Mastercard Centre for Inclusive Growth, aimed at empowering Bahraini SMEs by providing access to digital and financial tools, including artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
On the sidelines of the summit, Shaikh Salman met with key figures, including Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, Michael Miebach, CEO of Mastercard, John Huntsman, Vice Chairman of Mastercard, and Shamina Singh, President of the Mastercard Centre for Inclusive Growth.
The summit was attended by several Bahraini officials, including Khalid bin Ebrahim Humaidan, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, and Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Ambassador to the United States.
