StartUp Bahrain Weekend wrapped up its fourth and most vibrant edition, showcasing the Kingdom’s thriving entrepreneurial spirit and awarding top innovators with prizes backed by the Labour Fund (Tamkeen).
The event took place from April 24th to 26th at Bahrain Polytechnic, bringing together more than 200 developers, designers, marketers, and founders for an intense 54-hour sprint to transform ideas into viable businesses.
Supported by strategic partners Brinc, Spring Ventures, General Assembly Bahrain, Reboot Coding Institute and ordable/, along with sponsors such as Bahrain Polytechnic, BIBF, AUBH, Ahlia University, Calo, and others, the weekend created a dynamic platform for startups to build, compete, and shine.
The grand prize of BHD 3,000 and additional perks from ecosystem partners were awarded to three standout teams. First place went to WISHD, a platform allowing users to organise saved products into smart lists. Akeed, a secure identity and communication platform for sensitive industries like banking and healthcare, secured second place. SIGNify, which developed smart AR glasses to assist the hard-of-hearing, claimed third.
Participants praised the event for offering not only funding opportunities but mentorship and practical experience. “This platform doesn’t just empower startups - it ignites them,” said Sawsan Haider, founder of WISHD. In a surprise announcement, NervaGrid was awarded the General Assembly Choice Award for its platform assessing companies’ AI maturity and governance data quality, aligned with major international standards.
