NEW LAW TO RAISE MEDIA STANDARDS

Introducing a new media law will help deregulate Bahrain’s media sector and attract regional and international players, said Information Minister.

The move, according to Minister Isa bin Abdulrahman Al Hammadi, would create a healthy environment for media, where the private sector can play a significant role in its development.

Al Hammadi was speaking at the inauguration of the first in a series of high-profile speaker events organised by Capital Club Bahrain.

Titled ‘At The Majlis’, the networking sessions aim to provide a unique platform for dialogue with key decision makers from the Kingdom of Bahrain and to promote open discussions on key social, economic and business issues.

During the event, Information Affairs Minister discussed the latest developments with regards to the media and communications sector in the Kingdom, while touching on the investment opportunities and sustainable economic development witnessed by Bahrain in the prosperous reform era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

“We are also currently working on enhancing competencies and performances through ameliorations and vocational training with the aim of sending across the message from Bahrain to reach the international community, reflecting the developments happening in the Kingdom,” he added.

The ‘At The Majlis’ event will be held on a monthly basis and will feature a number of key executives from both the government and private sector. The next session will be held in May and the event is open to members and their guests.
