Multi-million Dinar Marina Park in Budaiya
Bahrain Marina Development Company initiated a new multi-million dinar project that will include an aqua park, an area for jet skis, scuba diving and ferry services.
The project, approved by the Northern Municipal Council, has been referred to the Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Ministry to draw up the contract.
The park will be constructed on a coastline in Budaiya.
"The investment project is extremely outstanding in all aspect as it takes all tastes into consideration and will be a must go attraction not just for Bahraini families but tourists also," said Northern Municipality director general Yousif Al Ghatam.
"The current coastline is not being utilised properly and we don’t have the proper funding to turn it into an appealing facility, but with this investment project we are set to get municipal revenues and at the same time revamp the place.
"When presented to us in the municipality I envisioned a futuristic concept for the Northern Government with this project opening the door for other investments on our coastlines that we are unable to develop at the moment."
Council chairman Mohammed Buhamood said they approved the project without even reviewing an artist's impression.
"This project is what we are seeking to develop the governorate and it is a change from the mediocre malls and shopping complexes concept, which is being presented to us on a regular basis," he said.
"The types of attractions in the project are new and they need expatriates to look after them, run them and carry out maintenance, while at the same time providing training to Bahrains who will be employed.
"In contract, we have asked for 60 per cent Bahrainisation for now, but within 10 years it has to be fully Bahrainised."
