Bowled over by Bahrain’s history

Doyens of Indian industry got first-hand information about Bahrain at a global investors meet in Bangalore India recently. While glancing through the pages of the latest “Gulf Who’s Who Directory,” the industrialists and business leaders expressed their deep appreciation for the history of Bahrain and its long time historical relations with India, which were focused in the Directory.

Sunny Kulathakal, Managing Editor of the Bahrain edition of “Gulf Who’s Who Directory,” presented copies of the directory to the veterans of Indian industry at a luncheon meeting arranged by the Chief Minister and Industries Minister of Indian State Karnataka. 

After receiving the directory, Ratan Tata, of the Tata Group of companies, said it would help strengthening economic, industrial, trade, investment and tourism between India and Bahrain. 

Azim Premji, Chairman of Wipro Group, spent a lot of time rifling through the pages of the history of Bahrain and some of the major families like Kanoos, Zayani with strong India connection. 

Azim Premji emerged the most generous Indian of the year with donations worth Rs 27,514 crore to the education sector. Azim Premji Foundation works in the education sector with operations in eight Indian States and over 3,50,000 schools.

Gautam Adani, Chairman, Adani Group, Dr S. R. Jindal, Chairman and MD of Jindal Aluminium Ltd. Dr. Devi Shetty, Chairman, Narayana Health, Uday S. Kotak, Vice Chairman and MD of Kotak Maindra Bank, Ms. Kiran Mazumdar, pioneer of Bio-Tech Industry, Subash Goyal, President, Electronic Industries Association of India, Chambers of Commerce Presidents, diplomats and others received the directory. Many of them evinced keen interest in visiting Bahrain.
