Bahrain’s biz potential in spotlight at ‘Make in India’

Manama : The ‘Make in India’ show held in Mumbai has served as an eye-opener to Bahraini delegates, who witnessed the vibrancy of the Indian economy and can-do attitude of the Indian government, said a prominent business man and top official.

Speaking about the show held last week in Mumbai, India, Bahrain-India Society (BIS) Chairman Mohammed Dadabhai, who was part of the Bahraini business delegation, said the event was a grand showcase of design, innovation and sustainability excellence across India’s manufacturing sectors.

Dadabhai and BIS Founder Abdulnabi Al Sho’ala were invited to meet and speak with PM Modi, along with a select group of 40 business leaders from around the world, including one of the biggest investors in Bahrain’s economy, Yusuffali M.A. of the LuLu Group.

‘Make in India’ show was part of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious vision to see India becoming a manufacturing hub in the coming decade.

Bahraini delegation, comprising members of BIS and leading businessmen, put Kingdom’s potential in the spotlight at the show. IT and electronic systems, food processing, construction media and entertainment were some of the sectors highlighted.

“For the BIS delegates, it was an opportunity to better understand India, an emerging economic giant and with many Indian companies looking towards the Gulf – the UAE was a key investor partner at the Make In India event – we emphasised to these companies, the business possibilities existed for working with Bahraini companies, since Bahrain was a Gateway to Saudi Arabia, one of the largest MENA markets,” said Dadabhai

“The Indian companies and business leaders we connected with were very interested in Bahrain’s economic policies and sound business environment and in the coming months we are confident that we shall see many Indian companies setting up offices and units in the Kingdom.

“BIS will continue to keep its focus on ties between these two countries and work to bring business leaders of both countries together,” said Dadabhai. He also said that when such companies are here we hope the concerned authorities will provide full support and make things easier to attract them.
