Indian billionaire says Formula E 'spaceships' are the future

Other teams include defending champions Renault e.dams -- co-owned by French racing legend Alain Prost -- DS Virgin Racing, Jaguar, ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport, China's Techeetah and Andretti of the USA.
After Hong Kong the series goes to Marrakech in Morocco and then Buenos Aires, Argentina. It culminates in Montreal, Canada, in July next year.
Mahindra Racing is part of Mahindra Group, a conglomerate worth around $17.8 billion that is involved in everything from cars and tractors to information technology. It also manufactures electric vehicles through its company Mahindra Reva.
Mahindra, whose personal net worth is $1.36 billion according to Forbes, welcomed a design change for season three that will see Formula E cars sport a stylish new front wing, which organisers say will help differentiate its look from other motor sports.
"There are new fins in front of the nose so they made them look much more exciting. They're beginning to look like spaceships. That's going to be a major visual difference in the new season," said the charismatic businessman.
But he would like the motorsport's administrators to go further, insisting thatFormula E cars should be given an entirely unique look of their own to help boost popular appeal.
"Why are we making these cars look so much like F1? We shouldn't look like wannabe F1s so there should be a design," he said.
