Bahrain to host 42nd World Heritage Committee session
Paris : Bahrain and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) yesterday signed an agreement by which Bahrain will host the 42nd World Heritage Committee session in Manama in June.
President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa and UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay signed the agreement at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France.
BACA President said Bahrain has consistently taken the initiative to protect Arab heritage sites, noting hosting the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Shaikha Mai praised the royal support for all efforts to promote Bahrain cultural standing at the regional and international levels and highlighted Bahrain cultural celebrations, including Muharraq the capital of Islamic culture 2018, as well as hosting of the Youth Forum on Heritage on June 17-26 and the World Heritage Site Managers Forum 2018 on June 20 -28.
