Regulations to cut plastic use
Manama : The National Committee for Standardization and Metrology has adopted the technical regulations for plastic products. The Ministerial Committee for Construction and Infrastructure at its 136 meeting held on July 18, 2018 had assigned the Supreme Council for the Environment in coordination with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and the Legislative and Legal Evacuation Authority to take the legal measures to issue necessary legislation to reduce and regulate plastic bags.
The 51st meeting of the National Committee for Standardization and Metrology, was chaired by the Minister of Industry, Commerce & Tourism Zayed R. Alzayani, in presence of committee’s members and representatives of public and private sectors. The Committee adopted 23 international standards as an optional national standards, which support to the technical regulations on plastic products as well as the technical regulation of electrical appliances They reviewed committee’s duties in term of general policy of standards and adopting national technical standards and regulations.
