Bahrain Airport Company hires twenty ‘Tahleeq 1’ graduates

Tw enty graduates from Tahleeq 1 Programme got hired by the Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) on a full-time basis, who will now work in specialised fields that will support the development of the Kingdom’s aviation sector. This was announced during a graduation ceremony held to mark the official completion of Tahleeq 1 Programme, an ambitious capacity building and development initiative aimed at shaping the future leaders of Bahrain’s aviation industry.

The event also marked the launch of Tahleeq 3, which is the biggest in the series to date. To meet the increased demand, the number of placements this year has doubled, bringing the total to 40. The launch of Tahleeq 2 last year saw 20 new Bahraini graduates enter the capacity building programme. Held under the patronage of Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and BAC Chairman, Kamal Ahmed, the ceremony was attended by Tamkeen Chief Executive Officer Dr Ebrahim Mohammed Janahi, BAC Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah, and officials from the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, Tamkeen, BIA Partners and BAC.

Speaking at the event, the Minister said: “Over the past four years, they have shown dedication, commitment, and high levels of competence in all areas. Working alongside the Airport Modernisation Programme’s (AMP) international consultants and contractors, they have gained the required knowledge, expertise, and competencies to work in various disciplines within in the aviation sector.” Highlighting the programme’s key role in supporting, training, and developing local Bahraini talent, Dr Janahi said: “It creates valuable opportunities that enable Bahrainis to play an active role in the country’s various development projects, including the AMP.”

Tahleeq 1 Programme runs in parallel with the AMP, which is nearing an advanced stage of completion. In February 2019, the new Passenger Terminal Building will undergo the next phase of testing, providing an opportunity for the new trainees to gain experience working alongside specialised international consultants. BAC launched the initiative in 2014 in association with Tamkeen and the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications. Through both theoretical and practical training, it equips participants with advanced skill sets required as part of the AMP.
