Open account in 5 minutes: BisB

Bahrain Islamic Bank (BisB) yesterday said its customers could now open a bank account online in just 5 minutes by using a new ‘real-time face verification’.  BisB CEO, Hassan Jarrar, in a YouTube broadcast, said that a new system is in place with which any new customer can open an account in less than “6 minutes”.

“Simply put, they only need to download the BisB Digital app from their smartphone. That’s right, we’ve eliminated the hassle of visiting a branch. That’s basically the time it takes to prepare your morning cup of coffee,” he said in the bank’s YouTube channel yesterday.

The entire process, Jarrar said, is fully automated with “zero paperwork, zero hassle” and “no human interaction.” The YouTube presentation also give a demonstration on how customers can open their own accounts with 25-year-old Bahraini Social Media Influencer, Omar Farooq, who is also BisB’s official new Brand Ambassador.

The broadcast also featured Dana, the bank’s digital employee, who took Omar Farooq on a futuristic behind-the-scenes tour of “Dana’s digital world”. As BisB’s new brand ambassador, Omar will be announcing all of the bank’s upcoming innovations and digital solutions.
