Gulf Aviation Academy selects TRU for Airbus A320 simulator
Gulf Aviation Academy (GAA) announced selecting TRU Simulation + Training to provide it with the latest Airbus A320 Std. 2.0 Neo & CEO Full Flight Simulator (FFS) training device with qualification to Level D by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The device is also equipped with a quad-engine option “so that it can be configured to various fit-outs as per the client’s actual aircraft.”
Vice President and General Manager of TRU’s Air Transport Simulation Division GEORGE KARAM said this is its second A320 FFS for GAA’s simulator fleet in Bahrain. The new addition, GAA CEO, Captain Dhaffer Alabbasi said, will play a key role in meeting the growing demand both locally and regionally. “Once installed in Bahrain, GAA will obtain all the necessary local and regional Civil Aviation Authority’s approval for training by their airlines and operators.”
Senior Manager Strategic Planning, Osama Al-Sayed, said their current A320 simulators are running at over 100 per cent utilisation for the past 3 years. “We have also signed a firm commitment of 12,000 training hours to be executed over the next two years.” The move, Al Sayed said, has effectively confirmed over 80pc use of this fourth training device. He further revealed that 92 per cent of their trainees came from outside Bahrain last year and “over 7,000 trainees and contributing back to the Kingdom’s economy by US$ 5.2MN.”
