Zain Bahrain announces launch of Fiber-Optic broadband services

Zain Bahrain, a leading telecoms operator in the Kingdom, yesterday announced the launching of its new fibre-optic broadband service effective 1 November 2019. The launch, Zain said, will allow it to present a new range of fibre connectivity services for homes, business and enterprises in the Kingdom.

“With the new fibre-optic service, Zain Bahrain will be able to expand its services to the business market rapidly,” Zain Bahrain Chairman, Shaikh Ahmed bin Ali Al Khalifa said, in a statement. Shaikh Ahmed termed the launch as a ‘milestone achievement’ and attributed the success to the vision of Bahraini government “towards liberating the telecom sector as a key enabler for boosting the digital transformation in the Kingdom.”

“Bahrain government has always been a motivator to reinforce our position since 2003,” Shaikh Ahmed added. The new service, Zain said, thanks to its enormous potential, will help boost the Kingdom’s economic progress and social development drive. “To meet our customers’ demand for high capacity and bandwidth for their data requirements, we need a total offering based on a future proof technology.

Zain Bahrain accomplished this through a superior network, flexible fixed-telecom solutions and now also fibre-optic,” Shaikh Ahmed said. Fibre-optic broadband connectivity enjoys significant priority in Bahrain’s fourth National Telecommunication Plan (NTP4). It aims at enhancing the Kingdom’s broadband penetration and telecom sector’s economic diversification for which Zain has partnered with BNET.
