Citi Bahrain celebrates 50th anniversary in Kingdom

Citi recently celebrated its 50h anniversary in Bahrain, and hosted its CEO Michael Corbat, for this special occasion. The event was marked by a town hall held at Citi’s premises in Seef Area which featured several senior Citi officers including Atiq Rehman, EMEA Emerging Markets Head and Usman Ahmed, Head of Citi in Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar.

During his visit, Corbat also met with HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain and attended a lunch hosted by the Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain Rasheed Al Maraj. Citi Bahrain obtained its banking license in 1969 and has since been an integral part of the region’s banking community, with Citi Bahrain serving several important markets in the MENA region.

The bank’s institutional capabilities include Corporate & Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Sales & Trading, Transactions Services and Islamic Banking, while its Consumer Banking arm has offered Wealth Management and Credit services since 1989.

Commenting on Citi Bahrain’s golden anniversary, Ahmed said: “We would like to express our deep gratitude to the Kingdom of Bahrain and in particular the Central Bank of Bahrain, our clients and colleagues for their unwavering support over the last 50 years. We look forward to building on this partnership for the next 50 years and beyond.”
