Gulf Air and the Royal Charity Organisation celebrated raising USD91,904.16 since the successful launch of their passenger donations project. Launched in September 2018, the initiative allowed passengers to donate coins or notes of any currency onboard Gulf Air flights.

The project was launched by Zayed R. Alzayani, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and Chairman of Gulf Air’s Board of Directors and Dr Mustafa Al-Sayed, Secretary-General of the Royal Charity Organisation.

The ongoing initiative is aimed at activating social responsibility and allowing passengers to participate and contribute to charitable work, including supporting university students who are struggling with their tuition fees.

Commenting on this milestone, Alzayani said: “This is a great achievement for Gulf Air and the Royal Charity Organization. Having such a mechanism to allow passengers to donate their excess coins and notes when returning from their holidays and business trips indeed boost the principles of social responsibility of both organisations. Today, we have collected USD91,904.16; money that will be managed by RCO and invested in charity projects in Bahrain to support those in need. I thank RCO for their outstanding role in giving back to the community and in managing humanitarian activities, particularly for Bahraini orphans”.

Dr Mustafa Al Sayed praised the efforts of Gulf Air towards this humanitarian project saying, “it represents a successful model of Corporate Social Responsibility among corporations that support the humanitarian deeds.” The Gulf Air-RCO donation project is being held for the first time in Bahrain and promotes the principle of community partnership to encourage travellers to donate excess money change by placing it in special envelopes that are located in seat pockets onboard Gulf Air flights.
