400 applies to volunteer at Expo 2020 Dubai's Bahrain Pavilion

The volunteering programme launched by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities is turning out as a smash hit among Bahrainis. The authority said it got overwhelmed by the tremendous interest generated by the programme, which at the time of closing had over 400 requests.

The registration window for the volunteering programme closed earlier this week. The authority said it would start the selection process in the coming week by holding interviews with those who passed the first stage. Expo 2020 Dubai on the theme “Connecting Minds and Creating the Future” will be held from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022.

The event is expecting to attract millions of visitors over the six-month of its holding. BACA is supervising the participation of Bahrain in Expo 2020 Dubai. Bahrain’s pavilion at the expo bears the slogan “Density Weaves Opportunities” and reviews the concept of density and its role in creating promising opportunities.

Visitors to the Bahrain pavilion will see traditional crafts from loom weaving to embroidery techniques, such as kurar and al naqda, that use silver and gold thread on fabric.
