Bahrain’s Sustainable Energy Authority announced signing a cooperation deal with Beacon Power, a US-based provider of energy efficiency technologies and solutions, to support pilot initiatives and projects based on technologies developed by Beacon in improving energy efficiency.

Dr Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza, the President of the Sustainable Energy Authority, and Robert G. Abboud, the CEO of Beacon Power, signed the deal during a virtual session.

The deal also mulls the possibilities of Beacon establishing a headquarters and factory in the Kingdom to manage and meet the demand in the Middle East, North Africa and East Asia region. The deal comes within the framework of attracting investments in energy efficiency projects and enhancing the role of Bahrain in the region’s energy economy.

“Bahrain needs to develop international, regional and global partnerships to enrich this promising and pivotal sector to achieve a comprehensive and sustainable development, and to benefit from the rich market experiences and expertise of the US across various fields,” said Dr Mirza.

Dr Mirza thanked His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their support for the Sustainable Energy Authority and development goals.

He also hailed the growing Bahraini-US economic relations, citing the agreements between the two countries in various sectors. Following the deal, the officials decided to hold a meeting to bring together two working groups to activate the terms of the agreement.
