Bahrain product exports value rises by 62 per cent in July

Bahrain’s value of exports of national origin has increased by 62% to reach BD327 million during July 2021, up from BD202million for the same month of the previous year.
The value of imports increased by 10%, reaching BD418 million during July 2021 compared with BD378 million for the same month the previous year.
This was according to the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) foreign trade report of the fourth quarter of 2020, encompassing data on the balance of trade, imports, exports (national origin), and re-exports.
The trade balance, the difference between exports and imports, recorded a deficit totalling BD31 million during July 2021 compared with BD135 million for the same month of the previous year, a decrease of 77%.
The top 10 countries in terms of the value of exports of national origin purchased from Bahrain accounted for 75% of the total value, with the remaining countries accounting for 25%. Saudi Arabia ranked first among countries receiving Bahraini exports of national origin, importing BD75 million from Bahrain. The US was second with BD54 million and Egypt was third with BD29 million.
Unwrought aluminium alloys emerged as the top products exported during July 2021 with BD97 million, agglomerated iron ores and concentrate alloyed was second with a value of BD67 million, and semi-finished iron and steel third with BD18 million.
According to the report, the top 10 countries accounted for 71% of the value of imports, with the remaining countries accounting for 29%. Brazil ranked first with BD59 million, followed by China with BD50 million and the UAE with BD31 million.
Non-agglomerated iron ores and concentrates was the top product imported into Bahrain with a total value of BD67 million, while aluminium oxide was second with BD26 million, and four-wheel drive cars third with BD17 million.
The total value of re-exports increased by 45% to reach BD60 million during July 2021, compared with BD41 million for the same month of the previous year.
The top 10 countries accounted for 87% of the re-exported value, while the remaining countries accounted for 13%. Saudi Arabia ranked first with BD25 million, followed by the UAE with BD11 million, and Singapore with BD6 million.
Portable digital automatic data processing machines were the top product re-exported from Bahrain with BD9 million, parts for use with telephones were second with BD7 million, and parts for aircraft engines third with BD6 million.
