GSMR successfully completes virtual training for Alba, Emirates Global Aluminium and Sohar Aluminium

Close on the heels of celebrating its first anniversary, GSMR Virtual Academy, Gulf Society for Maintenance and Reliability’s (GSMR) unique digital platform for the sharing of knowledge and exchange of ideas and best practices, added to its growing network of benefactor companies by successfully hosting customized corporate virtual training workshops between July-August, 2021 for Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C., Emirates Global Aluminium and Sohar Aluminium.
Facilitating the workshop was GSMR’s Education and Certification Committee Chair, Husain Al Ali who, during his 37 years’ long career in the aluminium industry, has played key roles in overseeing Alba grow from a capacity of 120,000 MTPA to one of the largest aluminum smelters in the world with a capacity in excess of 900,000 MTPA.
“Our corporate training is tailored for specific industries from oil and gas to aluminium smelters,” said Mr. Eyad Al Basrawi, GSMR Chairman, adding that GSMR also offers exclusive corporate sessions for organizations.
Speaking of GSMR’s ambitious plans to further expand its training portfolio, Mr. Husain Al Ali, GSMR Education and Certification Committee Chair said, “We are working towards extending our sessions to other organizations across industries.”
Launched in May 2020, GSMR Virtual Academy celebrated its first anniversary this year and so far, has benefited over 2,000 professionals in the region and internationally. More than 100 practitioners have been trained through the Academy. GSMR training is facilitated by certified industry experts. GSMR Virtual Academy registered a 60 per cent increase in facilitators in its first year.
