Sri Lankan Ambassador to Bahrain H.E. Pradeepa Saram inaugurated the colourful and flavoursome “Sri Lankan Fest” at Lulu Hypermarket in Dana Mall yesterday. Chief guest for the evening’s inauguration was Fahad Faisal Al Ayanti, Senior Specialist for International Relations at Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).
Also present was Lulu Group Director Juzer Rupawala and senior management of the Hypermarket. The focus is very much on the spicy and full-bodied flavours of Sri Lanka’s cuisine with cookery demos by well-known professional chefs, amazing deals on Sri Lankan ingredient checklists and a basket of selected goodies from the Emerald Isle of the Indian Ocean – tea, spices, seafood, fruits and veg, rice and a variety of coconut products.
“Once again, we are happy to see Sri Lankan flavours and the bountiful produce of our country take centre-stage in Lulu Hypermarket,” said Ambassador Saram. “Lulu Hypermarket has showcased all these culinary highlights very well and I invite all to participate and have a Lankan gastronomic adventure during this Fest.” From Sri Lankan spices to full-bodied tea varieties, organic coconut products to red rice and fish, exotic Sri Lanka will come alive at Lulu.
In addition, customers can get up to 30% discount in the form of supermarket vouchers on Sri Lankan grocery products, fish, fruits and veg when they spend BD4 or above on purchases at the Fest.
Customers can also get a firsthand experience of the taste of the two Ts which Sri Lanka is famous for – tourism and tea – since there will be stalls promoting them.
There are also stalls showcasing the beautiful crafts of the country and Sri Lankan run business house Bookmark (a book store) will offer great promotional deals on bestsellers. Rupawala said: “The food products of Sri Lanka are exotic, health-giving and unique and with the LuLu sourcing centre in the country, we have a network of suppliers who give us first pick of the best on offer.”
