Tamcon Contracting Company, a leading Bahrain-based grade AA civil and building construction company, announced signing an agreement with Sakhir Solar, an IREC Energy Group Company, for a range of civil works associated with installing solar panels at the Bahrain International Circuit. Mohammed Alhammadi, Chairman of Tamcon, Abdulla Alabbasi, CEO of Tamcon, and Dr Bassem Abdullah, Chairman of Sakhir Solar and IREC Energy Group, were present at the signing.

The signing comes after BIC announced earlier this year and in partnership with Sustainable Energy Authority (SEA), an international public tender for a new solar farm at the circuit.

This development will deliver enough energy to power the entire Formula 1 race weekend.

Chairman of Tamcon, Mohammed Alhammadi, said, “This project aligns with Tamcon’s commitment to partnering on initiatives that support the Kingdom’s drive for sustainable and clean energy as outlined in Vision 2030”.

CEO of Tamcon, Abdulla Alabbasi, added, “Bahrain’s real estate sector is seeing a solid revival and new real estate developments represent an excellent opportunity for integration of our building expertise with renewable energy initiatives.

We are very pleased to play a part in this development and to see economic growth tallying with the growth of efficient energy usage.”

Dr Bassem Abdullah, Chairman of Sakhir Solar and IREC Energy Group, said, “This project is particularly exciting for us as it allows us to transfer part of our international and Japanese experiences to make renewable energy technology more visible to people and businesses, and to therein extend awareness of how innovative solutions contribute to safer, cleaner, and more sustainable environments.

We look forward to working with Tamcon and to delivering a successful clean project to the BIC.”
