The Parliamentary Inquiry Committee on Gulf Air announced holding its sixth regular meeting yesterday. The meeting, headed by Deputy Abdul Nabi Salman, the Chairman of the Committee, First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, reviewed the executive decision regarding the formation of the committee, the proposed questions about Gulf Air, and the previous report of the parliamentary investigation committee in Gulf Air.

The committee also discussed a financial and economic study regarding the provision of the notes of the Financial and Administrative Oversight Bureau about Gulf Air, said an AlAyam report. The committee listened to the views of the union representatives on many policies, programmes and directions adopted by the executive management of the company and their implications for the performance, quality, productivity, stability and development of the hospitality sector in it.

It is noteworthy that Gulf Air includes four trade unions: the National Union of Gulf Air Workers, the Gulf Air Workers Union, the General Union of Air Hosts, and the Pilots Union of Gulf Air.

The committee also said it intends to hold meetings with the executive management of the company and the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company.

The meetings are for identifying the conditions within the company and its performance to achieve reassurance about its future, development, plans, challenges and ways to confront them.

Deputy Abdul Nabi Salman, the head of the investigation committee at Gulf Air, stressed the need for the executive management and the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism to respond to the questions, which the committee raised more than three weeks ago.

“They have to demonstrate through their quick response with the committee their cooperation and respect for the role of the House of Representatives and the Parliamentary Investigation Committee.”
