Meet an original Bahraini success story - Chef Tala Bashmi, Chef Patron at The Gulf Hotel’s Fusions by Tala, who has just been named the winner of the first Middle East & North Africa’s Best Female Chef Award 2022.
Featuring a spectacular rise to fame by an individual brimming with talent and drive, Chef Tala’s journey has taken her across the world, with two stints in Switzerland followed by returns to her native Bahrain, combined with extensive entrepreneurial activities and the founding of a very unique bakery!
Throughout this success story, Tala has exhibited a rare drive while also being closely supported by The Gulf Hotel Bahrain Convention & Spa, as one of their esteemed Management Trainee Candidates and in fact a forerunner for a soon to be revealed all-new Management Training Program, specifically created to welcome and develop Bahrain’s spectacular pool of top-tier hospitality talent. She will be presented with the inaugural award at the debut of MENA’s 50 Best Restaurants, which will take place in Abu Dhabi in February 2022.
Since this trail-blazer ‘settled’ into hotel life, and over the course of more than 7 years with The Gulf Hotel, Chef Tala has achieved an impressive set of titles ranging from Senior Sous Chef to now Chef Patron of a restaurant within the property and even branded under her own name!
Over this period, the hotel has provided Tala and other management trainees with a number of opportunities ranging from internal training to international educational opportunities at revered hospitality and culinary institutions around the world.
Truly a story of unique dedication and drive, both by Chef Tala and by The Gulf Hotel Bahrain Convention & Spa in their commitment to furthering the social development of The Kingdom of Bahrain, and in Chef Tala’s unique vision set upon sharing her cuisine with first Bahrain and then the world.
