The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) established a strategic partnership with SANS Institute to provide quality training in cybersecurity for hundreds of Bahrainis, starting with 200 graduates over the next two years.

This initiative follows Tamkeen’s strategic direction and the market needs that require high quality and specialized tech training opportunities for Bahrainis and the pressing need for qualified professionals within the cybersecurity field.

Husain Mohamed Rajab, Chief Executive of Tamkeen, said: “Through our 2021-2025 strategy, we are committed to delivering a higher impact for the economy.” “We are identifying prestigious training and education providers to empower Bahrainis with the tools they need to thrive and succeed in a rapidly changing market, enhancing their competitiveness both locally and internationally.”

SANS Institute is a leading US-based provider of specialized training in information security. James Lyne, Chief Technology Officer, at SANS Institute, welcomed the collaboration with Tamkeen and highlighted its alignment with their mission to deliver specialized industry-leading programs that empower cybersecurity practitioners around the world with immediately useful knowledge and capabilities.

He added: “We look forward to putting our expertise together with Tamkeen’s support to help high calibre and committed Bahrainis upskill and elevate their careers.” There is currently a market gap for cybersecurity professionals in Bahrain, making it a highly in-demand career option in several sectors such as financial services, ICT, and manufacturing.

The importance of cybersecurity roles lies in safeguarding and protecting data, warding off online attacks and ensuring that information and data are not compromised in any way. Bahraini individuals and enterprises interested in participating in the SANS programs will be able to apply directly through Tamkeen’s Train Me, Train & Grow, and Train & Place programmes.

More information on the application process and the opening of applications, will be announced through Tamkeen’s official social media channels.
