NBB wins two Sustainability Finance Awards from Global Finance 2022

The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) has been awarded the Best Bank for Sustainability Finance in Bahrain award from Global Finance’s Sustainable Finance Awards 2022.
The accolades acknowledge the bank’s ongoing efforts in implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices across its operations.
The awards recognise NBB’s commitment towards reaching its ESG targets throughout the year, achieving its mission to develop in a sustainable manner, and promote transparency internally and externally.
Following the integration of its Sustainability Framework, NBB launched a number of initiatives honouring its commitment towards enacting its seven key pillars. The bank introduced exclusive financing for customers interested in installing solar energy panels as well as an auto loan solution with special rates for hybrid/ electric vehicles, to name a few.
Jean-Christophe Durand, CEO of NBB, said: “Sustainability has remained at the forefront of our operations and continues to influence our current and future offerings. We have partnered with several prominent institutions in the industry to bring forth responsible initiatives, as part of our goal to maintain our position as a regional leader in sustainable and responsible banking.”
On his end, Joseph Giarraputo, Editorial Director from Global Finance, said: “National Bank of Bahrain plays a key role in driving the ESG agenda in Bahrain and is committed to sustainable development through responsible initiatives and reporting, working against a clearly defined sustainability framework and policy.”
Dana Buheji, Group Chief Human Resources & Sustainability Officer at NBB, said: “These awards are a testament to our integrated culture of sustainability and transparency at NBB.” NBB had previously earned the Outstanding Leadership in Sustainability Transparency Award from Global Finance’s Sustainable Finance Awards in 2021.
This year’s awards reiterate the bank’s endeavours, both locally and regionally, to emerge as a best-in-class bank committed to sustainable development.
