Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is seeking to establish strong ties with Bahrain by extending cooperation in the aviation sector encompassing defence and commercial segments, according to its Chief Executive Officer.
Boaz Levy, the man at the helm of affairs of IAI, was speaking to The Daily Tribune on the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS) 2022, which began yesterday. A leader in defence, aerospace, and commercial markets, IAI has been addressing defence and security challenges of nations by delivering unique solutions and products.
The company offers a vast portfolio producing air and missile defense, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), ground robotics, precision-guided weapons, and loitering munitions. It also delivers special-mission aircraft, modernised military aircraft and helicopters, and converts passenger jets into cargo aircraft through modification, conversion, and system integration.
“This is the first time we are participating in the Bahrain International Airshow and it is definitely a special feeling. Following the signing of Abraham Accords, both countries have excellent relations and cooperation in almost all areas. We are here as a government-owned company to take this relationship to a next higher stage.”
Mr Boaz pointed out that defence capabilities have always been a priority for nations across the world. “The present European situation demonstrates the real requirement for nations to step up their defence capabilities, especially when it comes to air defence and our company has proved that it has unmatched competence in terms of providing perfect products and solutions.
“IAI was the first defence firm to present a system that demonstrated the capability of destroying an incoming ballistic missile. We are also presenting a system that can perform aerial missile defence. We are bringing these products together with naval capabilities, to deal with impending security threats.”
Mr Boaz Levy was appointed the CEO of IAI in November 2020. Before that, he held the position of General Manager and Executive Vice-President of IAI’s Systems, Missiles and Space Group. The industry veteran has over thirty years of proven experience in the field of air defence missile systems and missiles, fifteen of which were spent managing major system projects. Yesterday also witnessed an historic moment when an Israeli Pavilion was opened at the air show venue.
