Alba, Ma’aden explore closer ties, cooperation

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) and Saudi Arabia's Ma'aden officials yesterday explored ways for strengthening cooperation during a meeting at the Alba's campus.

The meeting discussed sharing know-how, ESG and potential cooperation for upstream and supply-chain opportunities. Ma'aden is a Saudi stateowned mining company headquartered in Riyadh.

It was formed as a Saudi joint stock company on 23 March 1997 for the purpose of facilitating the development of Saudi Arabia's mineral resources.

Alba Chairman Shaikh Daij bin Salman bin Daij Al Khalifa, Ma’aden Chief Executive Officer Robert Wilt, Alba’s Chief Executive Officer Ali Al Baqali, Ma’aden Deputy CEO Abdulaziz Al Harbi, top executives and officials were present.

Shaikh Daij told the meeting that he looks forward to continuing dialogue on areas of mutual interest as they “work together to cement our positions as responsible aluminium producers.”

Such partnerships, he said, are what makes the GCC region a hub for responsible primary smelting and high-grade metal in the industry.

Chief Executive Officer of Ma’aden also expressed his interest in strengthening relationship and working more closely with Alba.”

Ma’aden delegation was introduced to Alba’s operations, including Line 6 through a field tour.
