Alba’s Line 6 capacity jumps to 560,000 MT

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the world’s largest Aluminium smelter ex-China, has announced that it has achieved a significant milestone in its Reduction Line 6 operations.
The smelter has increased its production capacity from 540,000 metric tonnes per annum (mtpa) to 560,000 mtpa by raising the current from 460 kA to 478 kA.
Alba’s Chairman of the Board, Shaikh Daij bin Salman bin Daij Al Khalifa, stated that this milestone is essential for the company’s current and future operational productivity and efficiency.: “This new milestone is important for Alba, now and in the future as we continue to strive to improve our operational productivity and efficiency while keeping Alba on track to rank as the largest smelter in the world ex-China.”
He also expressed eagerness to move forward with the Line 7 smelter, considering the success of Line 6 since its launch in 2018.
1.6 million mtpa
Commissioned ahead of schedule on 13 December 2018, Line 6 gradually ramped up throughout 2019, leading to Alba’s nameplate production capacity of over 1.6 million mtpa today.
