Ahli United Bank (AUB), a leading financial institution in the Middle East, has announced the launch of its new debit card features, the Global Wallet.

According to AUB, the new ground-breaking feature makes it very easy for AUB customers to use their existing ATM Card to transact overseas without incurring additional foreign exchange fees.

After activating the Global wallet feature via AUB’s Mobile or Internet banking and creating foreign currency accounts, transactions made online, at ATMs, or while shopping abroad will be automatically directed to the relevant currency account.

For instance, if a customer is shopping in Europe, the transaction will be automatically routed to their Euro account. Customers are not required to take any further action once they have activated Global wallet and funded their foreign currency accounts.

AUB said the new feature allows shopping online and abroad using pre-existing cards in four currencies: Bahraini Dinars, US Dollars, Euros, and Pounds Sterling.

Besides, the subscription-free service will offer 0% conversion rates on all currencies.

“We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new Global Wallet feature” said Suvrat Saigal, Deputy Group CEO - Retail Banking at Ahli United Bank.

“As a bank that serves customers across multiple countries and regions, we understand the challenges customers face when transacting across borders.

The Global Wallet is our solution to these challenges, and we believe it will be a game-changer for our customers.”

The Global Wallet is available through the bank’s mobile app and online banking platform.

AUB said that the Global Wallet enables cardholders to convert currencies for free when shopping online instead of letting websites and online payment services charge extra fees for the transaction.
