Alba, Egypt mull investment potential in aluminium sector

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has expressed its commitment to strengthening ties with key players in the aluminium industry in the Arab World.
During a meeting held in Cairo, Egypt, on May 24, 2023, Alba’s Chairman, Shaikh Daij bin Salman bin Daij Al Khalifa, met with Dr Mahmood Kamal Esmat, the Egyptian Minister of Public Enterprises Sector.
The meeting aimed to foster mutual cooperation and explore investment opportunities in the aluminium sector.
Present at the meeting were Ali Al Baqali, Alba’s Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Al Saadawy, Managing Director of the Metallurgical Industries Holding Company, and Dr Mahmoud Agour, the Chief Executive Officer of Egyptalum, Egypt’s largest aluminium producer.
One of the key topics discussed was the potential partnership between Alba and the Metallurgical Industries Holding Company for the production of Bauxite, a vital raw material. Shaikh Daij welcomed the efforts to study the feasibility of this partnership.
Dr Esmat praised the long-standing bilateral relations between Egypt and the Kingdom of Bahrain and expressed a desire for further integration and expanded economic partnerships between the two countries.
