Bahrain has the potential to be utilised as a global testing ground for telecommunication technology products before their rollout to end users, said a top Telecommunications Regulatory Authority official yesterday.
Philip Marnick, the General Director of TRA, said he believes that Bahrain is an ideal location to "test the latest telecommunication advancements before introducing them to end users around the world."
The TRA General Directors were addressing the second Open Forum held at Wyndham Grand Hotel, where discussions centred around updates to the TRA’s 2022–2023 work plan. Representatives from the telecommunications industry and consumer advocacy organisations were present.
During the forum, the General Director outlined TRA’s objective of creating an environment that fosters innovation, aiming to establish Bahrain as one of the world’s most advanced telecommunications markets.
He said this vision includes building a secure and resilient network, providing reliable broadband services for all, and empowering and protecting consumers. Presentations during the event focused on the concept of implementing digitization within the region’s industry. He also told the participants about the importance of familiarising people with the uses of telecommunications technology to help them address current challenges.
In this regard, Marnick also underscored the TRA’s dedication to supporting and promoting innovation and making Bahrain one of the world’s most advanced telecommunications markets with a secure and resilient network and reliable broadband service.
